Zero-Emissions Truck Trial Set to Begin This Year in Ports of Long Beach, LA

Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia announces the launch of a new Clean Truck Fund rate at 4Gen Logistics in Long Beach on Friday, April 1, 2022. The new fee is expected to generate up to $90 million in its first year and will allow the ports to accelerate the development and deployment of zero-emissions trucks and infrastructure. $26.98 million in grant money and the $47 million in required matching funds will support the JETSI project’s deployment of 100 BETs in the South Coast Air Basin.

Funding Partners

JETSI is jointly financed by California Air Resources Board and California Energy Commission ($26.98 million), MSRC ($8 million), and South Coast AQMD ($5.4 million), with an additional $21.7 million from Port of Long Beach, Port of Los Angeles, Southern California Edison, NFI, and Schneider. JETSI is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of cap-and-trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
